FAQs

Here are some common questions we receive! Can’t see the answer you were looking for? Ask us directly, we are always happy to help!

  • If some people confuse reflexology with massage they can be forgiven. At a quick glance, reflexology can look like a simple ear, face, foot or hand massage.

Both reflexology and massage involve applying physical pressure to parts of the body, and both do so to relieve stress and increase well-being. However, reflexology and massage differ in some basic ways.

  • Reflexology is based on the theory that all of the body's organs, systems, and glands are linked via the nervous system to specific locations on the ear, face, foot, or hand.

Applying pressure to one of these points has a reflexive effect on that organ, system, or gland.

  • The body has the ability to heal itself. Following illness, stress, injury or disease, it is in a state of “imbalance” and vital body systems can be blocked, preventing the body from functioning optimally. Reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body’s natural balance and facilitate healing. For each person, the application and the effect of the therapy are unique. Sensitive, trained hands can detect tiny deposits and imbalances and by working on these points, a Registered Canadian Reflexology Therapist can release these blockages.

  • The number of treatments you will need depends on your ailment or condition, how long you have had it and what you are hoping to achieve.

If you are focused on a specific health issue, I would recommend that you have sessions two weeks apart or even weekly for a month or two, then monthly as a maintenance program.

If you are having treatments to promote general relaxation and health, then I would suggest one session a month.

However, the frequency of treatments is entirely up to you and your own personal preference. It might be once per week, once per month, or even once per year.

  • Although it is advised to not receive reflexology during the first term of pregnancy thereafter, there are many benefits for both mother and baby such as:

week 13 and 14 for relaxation and regulation of thyroid function

week 20 for general balancing and prevention

week 28 for lymphatic drainage, sciatic nerve, and sacr-iliac joint relief

week 40 to prime for labour

  • Although the province of Saskatchewan has lifted many of the COVID-19 restrictions, Carolynn’s Reflexology does require you to please sanitize your hands when entering our facility. Masks are used at the discretion of the client.
