The online Professional Core + Foot Reflexology Certification Program is a total of 200 hours: You will have one year to complete all the elements of this course.

  • 42 online hours (a portion of which will be the in-person hands on instruction)

  • 25 hours of a home study program,

  • 2-hour written exam,

  • 4 hours of mandatory in-person practical lesson, a Case study practicum of 130 hours (65 treatments),

  • 4-hour in-person mandatory review and

  • 2-hour in-person practical exam.

Each chapter will provide you with eighteen recorded chapters including handouts, quizzes and worksheets. All elements of each chapter must be completed before continuing to the next chapter.

  • Pre - requisites

    Professional Core + Foot Reflexology registrants must be 18 years of age or have completed high school.

    Course Hours

    The Professional Core + Foot Reflexology Certification Program is 200 hours: 42 in-class hours, 25 hours of a home study program, a 2-hour written exam, a practicum of 130 hours (65 treatments), a 4-hour mandatory review and a 2-hour practical exam. You have one year to complete this course.

    This includes the course instruction, manual, home study workbook, charts, mandatory course review, one written exam and one practical exam, and all the supplies needed for class and more, you just show up ready to learn!

    This fee does not include the cost of a professional reflexology session (receipt must be presented at final practical exam).

    Purpose

    The objectives of this training are for students to:

    • Understand the principles of reflexology;

    • Gain an introductory understanding of how the body systems function;

    • Learn to map the body to the feet;

    • Learn how to stimulate the various reflexes on the foot for a safe, effective therapeutic treatment;

    • Qualify to apply to become a Registered Canadian Reflexology Therapist (RCRTTM) and Professional

    Member of the Reflexology Association of Canada (RAC®).

    Course Outline

    The History and Theory of Reflexology

    Covers a historical and theoretical overview and background to Reflexology, the healing crisis and how it affects the client and the healing process, structure and function of the foot, how and why it works, zone and neural pathways of the body and terminology.

    Biomechanics of the Foot and Foot Assessment Techniques

    Covers identification of foot conditions, their origins, assessment of the overall structure of the foot.

    Completing a Reflexology Case Study

    Covers the client/therapist interview process, review reasons for completing of a Health Record as well as documenting a session on a Treatment Record.

    Anatomy and Physiology

    Covers an introduction and explanation of the anatomy and physiology of the systems in the human body, related conditions, and how to locate the reflexes on the foot that correlate to each system.

    • The Cardiovascular System

    • The Digestive System

    Key Areas of Emphasis for Specific Conditions in Reflexology

    Introduces the student to an explanation and breakdown of each condition and the related systems and reflexes commonly affected within each condition.

    RAC® Approved Reflexology Method (following National and International standards)

    Covers treatment guidelines including providing a healing environment and hygienic practice, what to do before and after a session, a full reflexology procedure including method, pacing and technique.

    Business and Financial Information

    Covers RAC® Code of Conduct and Ethics, Standards of Practice, health and insurance plans, confidentiality, advertising, professionalism, business operation, and what makes a successful clinic.

    Home Study

    Home study guides the student through the course material. Each student must complete the Home Study Workbook and submit it for review at the time of the theoretical exam. Once completed and reviewed, the student is accredited 25 hours of home study.

    Practicum

    The practicum is a time for students to perfect the protocol associated with the practice of Foot Reflexology. Students must find their own clients and complete 63 treatments in a Case Study context (health records, treatment records and assessment documentation). The practicum must include a minimum of 6 clients. And, each client must have a minimum of 6 sessions to be accepted. Case studies must be submitted for review at the time of the practical exam. Once completed and reviewed, the student is accredited 126 practicum hours.

    Mandatory Review

    There is a 4-hour mandatory review given by the teacher halfway through the practicum. The goal is for the teacher and students to come together to review and evaluate the student’s case studies and session protocol. Each student must come prepared to present a minimum of 3 case studies with a minimum of 20-recorded treatments. Either the student or the teacher may request additional reviews.

    ***When a student has successfully completed the review and 20 case study sessions, s/he will be allowed to charge a maximum of $20.00 for each of the remaining 43 treatments.

    *****It is NOT RECOMMENDED that students charge or collect compensation in any form for their practicum treatments without student liability insurance.

    Exams

    The Exam Preparation chapter in the manual covers suggestions on how to help prepare for both the theoretical and practical exams.

    The 2 - hour theoretical exam must be completed within 3 months of the last day of class. The Home Study Workbook must be completed and submitted to the teacher at the time of the theoretical exam. Students must be members in good standing before the exam may be administered.

    The 2 - hour practical exam must be completed within 1 year of the last day of class. The practical component of 63 treatments must be submitted to the examiner at the time of the exam. All students must have completed the mandatory review, have a professional treatment by a RAC® certified member or teacher (at the rate charged by the member or teacher) and be a member in good standing before the exam may be administered.

    Passing grade for all exams is 80%. It is possible to register for an exam redo.

    NOTE: Retaking of exams when the 80% passing grade is not achieved: Course fees include one attempt to pass each exam. If an exam requires to be retaken there will be a fee of $350.00 per exam.

    Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be credited with 200 course hours, will receive a transcript of their marks, will be awarded an embossed certificate and will be eligible to become a Professional member of RAC®.

    Although optional, it is recommended that you become a RAC Student Member and apply for Student Liability Insurance once you begin your case studies.

    RCRT Exam

    The completion of the course requirements will provide you with the skills required to apply for your RCRTTM National Recognition.

    This will involve one exam with two components: One Written and One Practical. The cost is a $50.00 Application Fee plus $150.00 for the RCRTTM Exam (2 Components). Retakes will be $75.00 per component.

    Note: course includes 6-20minute consultation sessions within the one year program – additional sessions would be @ $100.00/hour. Mentoring is provided after the successful practical exam to equal 6-20minute mentoring sessions thereafter it will be @ $100.00/hr
